by Moody Adams 1 Tim. 2:9 instructs, “I will that women adorn themselves in modest apparel . . . “
When a woman dress immodestly it is an act of rebellion against God, reflection on her husband and can influence a weaker sister to stumble.
“Modesty is the voluntary personal responsibility to behave & dress in such a manner as to not purposely draw attention to oneself, to not think proudly of oneself and it's a decision to protect from purposeful or "unintended" enticement in inappropriate ways & places. This is crucial for a Christian woman; first and foremost because we're representatives of the LORD Jesus Christ and secondly, if we're married, we're a reflection of our husband” (achristianhome.org)
Extravagant dress engenders pride in you. It is as if putting a more expensive dress makes you feel superior to other more modestly dressed women.
The Bible commands warns mankind, “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3).
The purpose of this article is not to shame ladies that wear expensive dress, but to encourage them to dress more pleasing to their Lord.
