Why the Young Man Killed 20 Children 12/17/2012

by Moody Adams
The big question in the Newtown massacre is “what was the motive.” What led the man to slaughter 20 elementary children and 6 adults?

The answer is clear in the Bible. If we dust it off and read it we can understand why this murderous assault took place.

The truth is murder is not caused by anything or anybody outside of the killer. It is produced by something inside man, a depraved nature. Jesus said, “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed . . . murders,” (Mark 7:21). Outside factors may contribute, but the primary factor is inside man.

America is ignoring the three forces God gave to control the evil nature in man:

1. The home to train the child what is right and wrong. In searching for the cause of this massacre nobody is mentioning the divorce and absent father. It was his duty to teach the boy to “obey.”

2. The government to punish wrong doing. Singapore hangs drug pushers within as little as a week. They do it at sunrise on Fridays. America provides a murderer with 10-12 years of comfortable living, including TV. He may not ever be executed.

3. The church to convert men. But America is turning most churches into social clubs instead of a voice to warn men they are going to hell if they are not converted and explain Christ can change their nature.

Apart from these three forces, murder flourishes.

May God use the rash of murders to wake up parents, the government and the church to their responsibilities?
