Glen Beck is Teaching Bible Heresy 09/03/2013

Radio and television host Glenn Beck is now going public with his belief the United States is among the famous “Lost 10 Tribes of Israel,” and America today is suffering calamaties just as ancient Israel did due to its disobedience to the laws of God.

While Beck himself openly embraces his Mormon faith and has even dedicated entire programs to defending it, (See more at: (

Echoing the conclusions of his Mormon faith, he has delved deeply into what’s known as the theory of “Anglo-Israelism” or “British-Israelism,”

Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, said he had a revelation that he was a descendant of Ephraim and ordained his Father, Joseph Smith Sr. as the first Patriarch of the church. As Patriarch, the elder Smith gave “patriarchal blessings” which declared the “lineage” of the recipient. Most early members of the Church were declared to be literal descendants of Ephraim or Manasseh, otherwise they became descendants of Israelites at their baptism: “The vast majority of Latter-day Saints today are declared to be descended from Ephraim and Manasseh as well. This extensive progeny, in addition to the descendants of Joseph described in the Book of Mormon are viewed as fulfillment of Genesis 49:22. In Mormonism, the apparent contradiction present in Genesis 49:8 and 49:26 is harmonized by the belief that after Christ’s second coming, Judah will rule from Jerusalem and Joseph from Zion, which is to be established on the American continent” (, PoGP Articles of Faith).

Claude Mariottini, Profesor of Old Testament Northern Baptist Seminary, writes, “British Israelism is based on a biased interpretation of the text, eisegesis, wishful thinking, and a lack of reliable historical evidence. The view that Great Britain and the United States of America are the lost tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh is just a myth.
