A Christian's Thoughts on the Inaguration 01/22/2013

by Moody Adams
Seing the hundreds of thousands gathered before Obama, and hearing their words of adoration, it was a preview of what heaven will be like. A great crowd of millions will be there before the throne. All eyes will be on the Savior Jesus Christ. All lips will be praising Him.

The occasion brought to my mind the song “O For a Thousand Tongues” written in 1749 on the occasion of Charles Wesley’s eleventh anniversary of his conversion experience. It was said to be inspired by Peter Bohler, an influential Moravian leader, who exclaimed: “Had I a thousand tongues, I would praise Christ Jesus with all of them.”

O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing
My great Redeemer's praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me.
Oh what a Savior!
