Woman, Grandson Saved From Drowning by Christian Cross
CHERYL CHUMLEY Call it divine intervention, but a woman and her grandson, swept away by swirling flood waters in South Carolina, were able to stay alive by clinging for five hours to an object that just happened to be nearby: a large red Christian cross.
Adding to the story is the fact the woman, Blythewood resident Clara Gantt, was on her way to Three Rivers Baptist Church in Irmo when tragedy struck and her car was swept into the rising waters from nearby Lake Elizabeth.
Gantt added: “There was a little church right there. Where my car stopped was right beside a huge red cross. I was literally, after I got out of the car, holding onto the cross. I was clinging to the cross.”
“Jesus is my savior,” Gantt said, WIS-TV reported. “This story is not about me. This is about what he did to save me.”
