“FIREPROOF: A CHRISTIAN FILM BURNING UP THE BOX OFFICE
By Moody Adams The movie “Fireproof” is fire proofing families. The film was tops box office in openings under 1,000 theaters. It took in $6.5 million the first weekend, while costing only $100,000 to make.
It was produced by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, two ordained ministers from Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, Ga., who also produced the successful film, "Facing The Giants."
Kirk Cameron stars as a fire fighter who is told, "You run into burning buildings to save people you don't even know, but you're going to let your own marriage burn to the ground." He is given a book, “The Love Dare,” which saves his marriage. There was no such book but they have orders for 600,000 and are producing one.
Tom Crow, executive pastor of First Baptist Nashville, said "It's a great success story about the difference that God can make in marriage," he said.
