God’s wrath was stirred against Israel because of their wickedness and He sent a plague that killed 24,000 (Numbers 25:1-3, 9).
God sent a plague of boils upon the Egyptians because they had made slaves of the Jewish people (Exodus 9:8-11).
God sent a “bubonic” type plague upon the irreverent Philistines because they stole the Ark of the Covenant that brought a deadly destruction to the land (I Samuel 5:1, 6-12).
But there are far greater plagues promised in God’s word. Every time a new disease outbreak happens, those who know their Bible’s wonder if this the beginning of the earth’s seven last plagues, “And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues” (Revelation 21:9).
When Jesus was asked about the signs of His return and the end of time, He answered with these words, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places” (Matthew 24:7). So bad news for the world is good news for the believers; heaven is coming
