9,000 CHINESE COUPLES TO WED ON OPENING DAY OF OLYMPICS 08/01/2008

“A record 9,000 couples plan to tie the knot here next Friday to celebrate the opening of the Olympic Games and to take advantage of the lucky date — 8/8/08, reports USA Today.

“The Chinese government purposely chose the day to kick off the two weeks of sporting competitions because the number eight is considered lucky here. In Mandarin, the word for "eight" sounds like part of the expression ‘to get rich.’”

“A travel agent notes that their wedding also falls one day after China's own Valentine's Day, a date set by the traditional lunar calendar.”

It is astonishing that people believe dates on a calendar and the place of the stars determine their destiny.

The Bible says, in Isaiah 47:13, “Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, F232 the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.”
