By Moody Adams Reckless, vicious greed is responsible for: crooked politicians, crooked cops, CEOs bankrupting companies with their obscene salaries, gambling bankrupting the poor, killings in the drug world, con artists, the spending of retirement money which leaves many destitute, the debt that breaks up marriages, cheating in college, steroid use among professional athletes, the worldwide sex slavery of children, newspapers filled with cooperate greed scandals like the latest $50 billion dollar rip-off.
Bernard Madoff, labeled the grinch that stole Christmas, ran a Ponzi scheme where he would use investor’s money to pay off other investors.
Carl Shapiro, a personal friend and founder of Kay Windsor clothing chain, invested $400m of his own money and $145m from his charitable foundation in Madoff's funds and lost it all
A 95-year-old Boston clothing tycoon, Carl Shapiro, appears to be the biggest single victim of Bernard Madoff's fund management scam by losing up to $545m at the hands of the Wall Street fraudster.
Christ commended the man who invested wisely and made a lot of money, And so he that had received five talents ( a talent was over 150 lbs of gold) came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:20, 21).
A man should make all the money he can to care for his family and support charities, but it must be done within the bounds of morality—doing unto others as he would have them do unto him.
Capitalism cannot work when morals fail and greed breaks through the bounds of Godly behavior.
