WHICH CROWN DOES CARRIE GET TO KEEP? 05/13/2009

Donald Trump ruled that Carrie Prejear could keep her Miss California crown, despite her semi-nude pictures circulating on the Internet. Miss Prejear thanked Mr. Trump on Hannity’s radio program and testified she became a real Christian at 16 or 17 and now lived to please the Lord.

In the first place we cannot please the Lord by disobeying him.

The Bible is very clear about a Christian woman dressing modestly: “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel” (I Timothy 2:9). There is no possible way you can call her suit in the Miss U.S.A. contest, or her semi-nude pictures “modest”.

Her ridiculous excuses were “she intended the pictures for application (to be a model) rather than for publication.” It does not matter what the purpose they were made and sent to a modeling agent for viewing.

Being opposed to same-sex marriages alone does not make you an appropriate role model for Christian youth. Yet, churches are inviting her to speak.

Miss Prejear needs to be concerned about God’s views and the crown of righteousness far more than Trump’s views and the Miss California crown.

“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day” (II Timothy 4:8).

“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:11).
