FORMER PRESIDENT CARTER KEEPS ON RESIGNING FROM THE SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION 07/29/2009

Carter doesnít like Bible teaching against ordaining women as pastors
President Carter resigned from the Southern Baptist Convention for the first time in October 2001, over male only pastors. Now, for the third time, he has announced again that he is resigning.

In response to Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr.ís article on the subject, the following blogs were received:
HAWK49:

The more important question is this: Does President Carter really believe that he will convince Christians - Southern Baptist or otherwise - to see any human statement as holding a higher authority than the Bible?

Lakesidelouie:
I find it interesting that the name of the group that Mr. Carter has affiliated himself with is "The Elders." In the NT, Elders (overseers/bishops) were appointed by the apostles to oversee the church by Teaching (holding onto sound doctrine) and Ruling (applying that doctrine to the church to keep it pure). Elders were/are men. - Perhaps Mr. Carter should have the name of the organization changed to the "The Humanists".

You would have thought that President Carter would have known that individuals cannot join nor resign from the SBC. Only churches can do that.
