by Moody Adams Two Somali Muslim men attacked a well-known Somali church leader in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa over the weekend, according to a Washington-based Christian human rights group. Mohamed Ali Garas, a pastor who converted from Islam, had to flee Somali to Ethiopia to escape the Muslim persecutors.
Garas was attacked with clubs and beaten until a neighbor drove the attackers away. He is in the hospital being treated.
Somali Muslims are attacking Christians who had fled to Ethiopia to try and escape. Five Somali Muslims beat a Somali Christian convert in Addis Ababa and a 35-year-old Christian leader.
Ethiopia is 60 percent Christian and declares it has religious freedom, but local authorities are not always abiding by this.
Philippians 1:29 reminds us, "For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake."
