CALVINISM TEACHES GOD SPINS THE BOTTLE TO DECIDE WHO GOES TO HEAVEN 08/03/2009

Foolish Calvinists believe God sits up in heaven and plays “spin the bottle.” Those it lands on go to heaven, the others all go to hell. Or maybe, they believe, He doesn’t do that. Maybe He flips a coin and “heads you go to heaven, tails you go to hell.”

Declaring that God elects men to heaven or hell without any responsibility on their part contradicts a thousand verses of Scripture. The Bible teaches that God elect men to heaven on the basis He "foresees' He can secure their faith, repentance and perseverance. This does not contradict one verse of scripture.

Even though God knew Adam and Eve would sin, he did not program them to sin, like some encoded robot. As free moral agents, Adam and Eve chose to commit sin (Gen. 3). Man's will is involved in his salvation, not God's irresistible coercion. God in His wisdom foreknew they would sin. If I have “foreknowledge” there is a wreck on the highway I am traveling because the radio notified me and I change roads, it does not mean I predestined the wreck. I just “foreknew” it.

Surely, predestination is taught in the Bible. God is able to "declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things are not yet done..." (Isa. 46: 10). However, the Bible teaches those who choose to: "enter in at the strait gate" and follow "the narrow way" (Matt. 7: 13, 14) are those who will be saved. Not those God arbitrarily chooses without any participation by them.

A favorite chapter Calvinist twist to fool people is Romans 9. In this chapter, Paul answers the Jewish objection that the rejection of the Jews and reception of the Gentiles was contrary to the word of God, reading the whole chapter makes this very clear. Romans 9 is not about personal salvation.

The passage explains God, in His sovereignty choose to pass over Abraham’s first child and pick Isaac to carry the seed that would bring the Messiah, just as He chose to pass over Isaac’s first son Esau and choose Jacob.
God certainly has the power to choose whom He will and destroy whom He will, just as a potter can destroy a vessel he made. Instead, thank God He chooses to first offers salvation to all men.

Romans 9 is not about anyone going to heaven or hell. It is about God’s sovereignty to offer the Gospel to the Gentiles.

Another passage the Calvinist try to take out of context is Acts 13:48: “as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” However before this, Acts 13:46 declares men are personally responsible: “Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.” The Jews were rejected because they rejected Christ, not because they lost some coin flip.

Surely, predestination is taught in the Bible. God is able to "declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things are not yet done..." (Isa. 46: 10). But God’s predestination is based on His foreknowledge. God knows ahead of time who will choose to love Him and who will not:

I Peter 1:1, 2 says the elect were chosen according to “the foreknowledge of God.”
In Romans, chapter 11, the Bible says, "God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew" (ROM 11:2).

Romans 8:20 says God predestination comes after His foreknowledge, "For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his son"

Romans 8:29 says God predestines those he foreknew: "For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his son"

The Bible teaches those who choose to: "enter in at the strait gate" and follow "the narrow way" (Matt. 7: 13, 14) are those who will be saved. Not those God arbitrarily chooses without any participation by them.

Men would like to free themselves of all responsibility, saying, “I am not a Christian because God chose not to save me and there is nothing I can do about it.” 30:19

Over 50 times God calls on men to “choose” and thir decision determines their destiny:” I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

If men are living a wicked, sinful life, it is not because God chose not to save them as Calvinist love to teach; it is becuase they chose to reject the Christ who loved them and to wallow in their wickedness.

If Calvinists choose to tickles sinners ears with their ridiculous philosophy, that sinners have no responsibility in correcting their evil ways, they will find a delightful following until they meet at the judgment of God
