ARE WILLIAM AND CATHERINE TO SIT ON THE THRONE OF DAVID?
by Moody Adams . Tens of millions watched worldwide. Data from online service provider Akamai showed the royal wedding ranked as “the sixth biggest event in Internet history,” eclipsing the November 2008 United States presidential election. In the U.S. an audience of tens of millions watched. Why is there such International fascination with the British monarchy?
Many believe it is because the British Monarchy sits on the Biblical Throne of David. It hinges on a word in Ezekiel 21:27, “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him” (Ezekiel 21:27). The Hebrew word translated “overturn” means: "a prim. root; to crook, lit. Or fig. (As follows): - do amiss, bow down, make crooked, commit iniquity, rvert, (do) perverse (ly), trouble, turn, do wickedly, do wrong" (Strong’s number 5753). Some see the passage as saying David’s Throne will “bend, twist, and turn” 3 times and no more until Christ returns.
Therefore it is said the throne has been transferred from Jerusalem to Scotland and then to England, from which it shall be moved “no more” until the Lord comes and returns it to Jerusalem.
At each coronation of a British monarch, the Stone of Destiny, a rectangular sandstone block said to have come from Israel, is present. It is said to be the stone Jacob put his head upon (Gen 28:10-14)
Most modern translators disagree, saying the word in Ezekiel 21:27 means “ruination or utter destruction,” not Transference and certainly cannot be used to support the idea of three transfers.
The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society dissents from the above view, saying, “…admitting that the covenants of the Old Testament are to be accepted as utterances upon divine authority, we have the covenant as uttered in Genesis [49:10]—‘The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a law giver from between his feet until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.’”
