by Moody Adams There is a concerted attack on marriages. In New York they have successfully replaced God’s rule of marriage, allowing homosexuals to marry.
For Christian believers it is time to review what the Bible says about marriage. To understand Christian marriage, you must understand what the Bible says and not be confused by what our godless generation is saying.
The primary purpose of sex is to form a union between a man and a woman so that they become one flesh: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24,25).
Jesus Christ repeated this truth saying, “Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘ For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh.' Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh’."
Marriage takes place when a man and woman have sex, “And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Genesis 2:21-23).
A man and woman are married after they have sex, even if they did not intend to be, “What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh” (I Corinthians 6:16).
A marriage ceremony is a wonderful event, celebrating a marriage that will take place on the wedding night. In early marriages, like Adam and Eve’s, there was no wedding ceremony. They were married by the sex act.
In God's eyes, marriage takes place when a man and a woman have sex. For this reason marriage by a same sex couple is not possible, whatever a court may rule.
