4 Benefits of the Resurrection of Christ 04/10/2012

There are four benefits you can reap through Jesus' resurrection.

1. You Don’t have to live in fear.
Jesus’ resurrection saves us from living in fear. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (I Peter 1:3).

Wilhelm Stekel said, "Every fear we have is ultimately the fear of death."

We avoid wrinkles, graying hair, aging friends at class reunions, spend $10,000 to try and make the dead look alive. Young people avoid funerals.

Johann Woefgang von Goethe said, “Those who hope for no other life are dead even in this.”

James M. McCullough, Jr., a mortician in Warner Robbins, Georgia, said he plays my tapes on the resurrection and Second Coming of Jesus while he works in the embalming room. "It thrills me to think that someday Jesus Christ is going to undo all the work I am doing, and raise the 'bodies back to life'."

2. You don’t have to live with guilt.
Guilt is a cancer that eats at the souls of every human. Christ was raised for our justification, meaning he has paid for our sins and we no longer have to live with guilt.

Romans 4:24-25 "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

3. You do not have to live weak, defeated lives.
Philippians 3:10 says, “That I may know him and the power of his resurrection.” Paul was a murderer who found power to control his passions and love his enemies through the power of Jesus’ resurrectrion.

4. We will not be guilty at the judgement.
Easter is about death and what follows it. It is a joyful time to the Christian, but to the unconverted Jesus' resurrection is an assurance of judgment.

“Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead” Acts 17:31.

Death is as close as one malignant cell, a car which fails to stop at at a signal. It is no farther away than a final heartbeat. A microbe which a man cannot even see can strike him down. Seventy-eight Americans die of heart attacks every 60 minutes. And after death a judgment awaits that will condemn the unconverted. Hitler did not escape through suicide, he will face God’s judgment.

These benefits become ours through Christ. For you today: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9-10).
