Do not celebrate Libyan liberation too quickly. 08/24/2011

I was in Cuba right after a revolution we thought was bringing freedom. Instead it brought far worse tyrany.

We are celebrating another revolution. This one in Libya. We like to believe it will bring increasing freedom. This may not be the case.

Daniel Pipes, a middle East expert, says, “In the case of Libya, which is about to reach a climax, it appears, we don't know what is in Benghazi, who the rebels are. My suspicion is that the Islamists will emerge as the power.”

The constitution of Libya’s rebels puts them under Sharia law. Sharia devastates women’s rights, and gives the death penalty to homosexuals and adulterers.

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.” -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
