The Evils of Dressing to Gain Attention 07/10/2012

1 Tim. 2:9 instructs, “I will that women adorn themselves in modest apparel . . . .“

The Bible instructs us to dress modestly. One aspect of dressing modestly is not drawing attention to yourself.

Soldiers learn in the army the advantage of not "sticking out." They dress alike.
Should you, as a Christian, want to be noticed?

A Christian must remember that the way a person dresses is a definite indication of what kind of person he or she is.
Our dress is like the hands on a clock. They tell us what is going on in the inside.

A person should ask himself, “What does my dress tell others about me? Does it draw attention to me or bring glory to God?”

The Christian’s primary desire should not say, “Look at me, admire me,” but rather, “Christ lives in me and has changed me from the inside out.”

While people focus on their outward appearance, God looks on the heart, “ 1 Samuel 16:7 says: “The LORD seeth not as man seeth ; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (I Samuel16:7)

We are not in a fashion show. We are witnesses of Jesus in a pagan world.
